The PMI Northeast Ohio Chapter Project Management Excellence Awards acknowledges an individual who has made significant contributions to, and demonstrated continual commitment toward, the project management profession. Congratulations to this year's winner, Bill Cook, Senior Director, IT Operations & Service Management at GE Lighting!

Bill utilizes his vast project management and technical expertise as the Director of GE Lighting’s IT Project Management Office. Over the last 5 years, Bill has built a complete PMO infrastructure toolset that provides standardized templates, automated status collection, multi-level dashboards and more for all Information Technology projects.

Bill’s approach to project management is a belief in “project management 101”, while striving to keep everything simple tied together with a focus on getting (and keeping) the communication going among team members, sponsors, customers, and all other stakeholders. Over time, Bill has helped establish patterns for executing projects across the organization. The system that he has built codifies much of what we have learned about how project management works best for our organization. When a first-time project leader starts, they quickly get up to speed on how to run a project “the GE Lighting way” because of the tools Bill built.

Awarded to a Project Manager that not only delivered a significant project, but also contributes to the profession during 2022, Bill received an award and a $500 prize at the May 11 PDD at Baldwin Wallace University.
