How to Report PDUs Without Losing Your Cool
Earning PDUs is one thing, reporting them is another. But good news: it’s way easier than it sounds. With a few clicks and a little organization, those hard-earned PDUs will be safely logged and ready to count toward PMP renewal.
1. Head to the PMI® CCRS Portal
Start at ccrs.pmi.org and log in with the PMI account. This is the official home for all things PDUs. Think of it as the PMP progress tracker.
2. Hit “Report PDUs”
Once inside, click “Report PDUs.” A list of activity types will pop up, kind of like a menu of how learning happened:
- Course or Training: Classes, workshops, or webinars.
- Online or Digital Media: Podcasts, videos, or self-paced learning.
- Organization Meetings: PMI chapter events or professional meetups.
- Read: Books or articles that actually taught something new.
- Volunteer or Create Content: Giving back to the project management community.
- Work as a Practitioner: Applying project management skills on the job.
Pick the one that fits best.
3. Add the Details
Now for the easy part — fill in the blanks:
- Activity Name: What was it called?
- Provider Name: Who hosted or taught it?
- Dates Attended: When did it happen?
- PDUs Claimed: How many hours of learning or contribution?
If it was through a PMI Authorized Training Partner, drop in the Activity ID for instant verification.
4. Double-Check and Submit
Give everything a quick once-over, then hit Submit. The PDUs will show up as “Submitted” or “Approved” on the dashboard. PMI might take a few days to review, so no need to refresh every five minutes.
5. Keep Proof Handy
Save certificates, emails or screenshots just in case PMI asks for verification later. A quick folder on the computer or cloud storage works perfectly.
6. Watch the Progress Bar Grow
The CCRS dashboard shows how close the total is to 60 PDUs and how they’re split across the Talent Triangle (Ways of Working, Power Skills, and Business Acumen). Watching that bar fill up is surprisingly satisfying.
7. Make It a Routine
Don’t wait until the end of the three-year cycle to log everything. Report PDUs as they’re earned — it takes minutes and saves a ton of stress later.
Reporting PDUs doesn’t have to be a headache. A few clicks, a little consistency, and that PMP certification stays shiny, current, and ready for whatever project comes next.
