The PMI Northeast Ohio Chapter's Military Outreach team recently participated in the Cuyahoga County VetConnect event held at Huntington Bank Field, connecting with local veterans and sharing information about career opportunities in project management.

The event brought together veterans from across the region and provided organizations with an opportunity to engage with members of the veteran community. While attendance skewed toward veterans of retirement age rather than those actively seeking career transitions, our volunteers remained committed to the Chapter's mission of supporting veterans and raising awareness of the many opportunities available within the project management profession.

Throughout the event, Military Outreach volunteers spoke with attendees about how the leadership, planning, communication, and problem-solving skills developed during military service align naturally with the competencies required of successful project managers. Many veterans are already experienced in coordinating teams, managing resources, executing complex missions, and delivering results under challenging conditions, all of which are highly transferable to project management roles in the civilian workforce.

Although the event did not attract as many working-age veterans as anticipated, the Chapter views participation as an important investment in building relationships within the veteran community and increasing awareness of project management as a rewarding career path.

The PMI Northeast Ohio Chapter extends its sincere appreciation to the Military Outreach volunteers who dedicated their time and energy to represent the Chapter and engage with veterans throughout the event. Their commitment to service continues to strengthen our connection with the military community and helps advance our goal of supporting veterans as they explore new professional opportunities.
