PgM Fundamentals Training

THE NORTHEAST CHAPTER OF PROJECT MANAGEMENT INSTITUTE (PMINEO) PROVIDES CLASSES to help experienced project managers to learn the fundamentals of program management.

Course Information

Organizations deliver business value through effective use of portfolio, programs and projects. A program is defined as related projects, subsidiary programs, and program activities managed in a coordinated manner to obtain benefits not available from managing them individually.

From a Project Manager career development perspective, Program Management is the next logical step for experienced Project Managers. While successful Project Managers have a firm grasp on the technical and soft skills required to manage a project successfully, managing programs requires a much different skillset.

Program Managers must develop a strategic mindset an essential skill for organizations to succeed in an environment of continual change. The Program Manager must apply the knowledge, skills, and principles across program life cycle to achieve program objectives and align program goals to organization strategy. There is a growing demand for Program Managers. In 2016, US Federal government passed Program Management Improvement and Accountability Act (PMIAA). The legislation was passed to improve program management practices and bolster workforce development within Federal government.

In this training, you will learn the fundamentals of program management and the framework to manage end to end program life cycle. The course also discusses the program management skills and principles required to manage uncertainty, navigate complexity, and implement change in the program environment. This enables the Program Manager to optimize the delivery of program benefits.

The training is also aligned with PMI Program Management Standards (4th edition) and will help you prepare for Program Management Certification. The classes are not dedicated towards PgMP certification however, participants interested in obtaining the PgMP certification are encouraged to attend this fundamentals training to learn concepts.

The classes include shared perspectives, lively discussion, easy to grasp concepts and materials. The course is an exceptional value for PMINEO members.

Also, if you are an existing PMP, experienced PM and want to earn PDU's by learning program management fundamentals that would enable your career progression, please consider registering.
