We have a number of great opportunities to help our project management community connect with one another.  Our outreach team focuses on four important stakeholder groups:

Members

We have six social events planned for 2017.

·       We will have two casual golf outings.  Imagine taking off Friday afternoon for a 9-hole round of golf with fellow professionals.  This is a great example to meet others and enjoy the sport and the weather.

·       We will have four social events planned too. We will meet for bowling, livations, games, in a setting where we don’t have to talk about work, but rather get to know fellow professionals in a fun setting.

Executives and Senior Managers

Building on the successes of the past with our Birds of a Feather events in 2014 and our PMO Breakfast Forums in Fall 2016, we want to expand it to even more offerings in 2017.

·       We plan to have four PMO Breakfast forums in 2017.  We will focus the discussions on large successful programs, program management certification, and on portfolio and program governance.  The agendas are current under development and we have a lot of great ideas.  If you have ideas or programs you want to share, please contact us.

Military

Refer to the article on the Military Outreach offerings in 2017.  We are excited to kick this off and give back to the veterans that have sacrificed for us.  They are natural leaders that have much to share with the project management community.  We can help them by providing certification, membership and job search assistance.

Academic – Faculty, Student, Youth

We will continue our academic programming by visiting college classes and presenting project management as a profession.  We will also host a Speed Mentoring event in March 2017 to help connect new or aspiring professionals with seasoned experts to share ideas and learnings.

What about you?

You might want to dig into the recent announcement by PMI.  Both the U.S. House of Representatives and Senate has unanimously re-approved S.1550 and the President has signed the Program Management Improvement and Accountability Act of 2015 (PMIAA), which will enhance accountability and best practices in project and program management throughout the federal government.
