Northeast Ohio Chapter of PMI

President's Messages

Welcome to a beautiful late Spring!! So glad to be outside again and starting to get back to 'normal' - whatever that means!

We will continue virtual programming through the summer - so you can enjoy from the comfort of your deck/patio with a cold beverage nearby! View our event list to register.

With the Governor's lifting of pandemic restrictions, Chapter leadership is evaluating options for a return to in-person events. We are starting with a social event at an Akron Rubber Ducks game on August 18th. Get more info and register here.

Something NEW!! We are planning for hybrid programming (in-person & virtual) in the second half of the year! If you have a passion for video recording and would like to be part of our hybrid technology team, please This email address is being protected from spambots. Hard to believe we have reached the unofficial end to summer!

We did hold our first in-person event since the beginning of COVID - at an Akron Rubber Ducks minor league baseball game! All those who made it had a great time, despite the final score.

As usual, we did slow things down a little over the summer months. But keep reading... we are kicking back into gear in September for the Fall!
9/16 - Topic: Standing-up COVID Vaccination Clinic
9/24 - Virtual Job Fair

Save the Date for our (virtual) Annual Planning meeting on Sat, October 16 (9a to Noon-ish). Strongly recommended for volunteers; all are welcome!

Check out our website event page for current information and registration.

Be on the lookout for the Governance Board ballot - voting will occur in Sept!

If there is anything we can do to make our Chapter even better, please reach out. We would love to hear from you!

President's Corner - August Food Drive

Welcome to the 'dog days' of summer in NE Ohio! It may be hot but remember what it was like six months ago... and enjoy it while it lasts! I hope that you and your families are healthy happy!

We have an exciting opportunity for YOU to get involved and help others in NE Ohio who are less fortunate. We are partnering with other PMI Chapters in Region 4 (Ohio, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania) and yougivegoods.com to hold a virtual food drive from August 1 - 31.

All you need to click the food bank's logo below. Click the 'Shop Now' button, select the food you would like to donate, and provide payment. (Note: prices include shipping & handling and service fees)

Greater-Cleveland-Food-Bank   Akron-Canton-Food-Bank

By doing so, we will benefit two outstanding organizations that serve NE Ohio by feeding families in need! (And if you know me, I am competitive and would really enjoy seeing PMINEO out-give our fellow chapters!) Please consider joining me in this worthwhile (and COVID safe!) endeavor for social good. Remember to donate by August 31.

This virus may keep us from meeting in person, but it is not keeping us from meeting your needs. Please check our website regularly for updated content and virtual events: www.pmineo.org

As always, feel free to reach out to me if you have questions or suggestions about our Chapter.

Respectfully,

Todd R Jones

It is hard to believe that we are in September and Labor Day is upon us. I am trying to fight that it represents the unofficial end to summer!

First, THANKS for your generosity. Together we donated 557 pounds of food to the Cleveland Food Bank on behalf of the Chapter. Combined with other chapters from Region 4, we supplied nearly 5 tons of food to food banks in major cities in Ohio, Michigan, Pennsylvania, New York, and New Jersey. Well done!

You are invited to our Annual Planning meeting for 2021. It will take place virtually on Saturday, September 26, from 9:15a-11:30a. Our focus will be on post-COVID: how do we want to emerge as a Chapter and what should we be doing now to prepare for it? Please visit www.pmineo.org for more details and to register. All Chapter leaders and volunteers are strongly urged to attend; all are welcome to join!

Be on the lookout for your ballot for PMINEO Governance Board elections. There are two officer positions up for election this year. Information should be distributed in the next week with a link. Be sure to read the candidate bios and cast your vote.

We have exciting virtual events throughout the Fall - from more Thursday Tech Talk webinars, monthly chapter meetings, women in PM book clubs meetings, and our combined International Project Management Day / Professional Development Day event on Thursday, November 5. We also have links to some virtual events by our regional chapters that you can attend.

As school starts (in whatever form) and some of us are returning to work at an office, I am anxiously awaiting in-person chapter events (as soon as it is advisable). Until then...

Stay safe & healthy!

Wow... what a roller coaster ride Q2 has been!! Despite COVID-19, our PMINEO has continued to offer outstanding programming and networking opportunities, posted articles and links to Resources for Working Virtually, and hosted a Fundraiser to support the Greater Cleveland Coronavirus Response effort. And all of this virtually!

I would like to express the Board's gratitude to our dedicated volunteers who have maintained excellence in leading the Chapter. Your service is very much appreciated. And Thanks to you, our members, for staying engaged and supporting our virtual events!

On a more personal note, many of us are experiencing pain for family, loved ones, or friends who have been affected by the virus. We are navigating a 'new normal' in our families (schooling children at home, sharing a makeshift office with a spouse). We are celebrating milestones in new ways (virtual graduations and birthday parties). We are encouraging those on the front-lines fighting the virus (impromptu cheering for hospital heroes and first responders). Regardless of our individual situations, we are all connected in one way or another... we are truly #InThisTogether.

Please take advantage of our website, social media, and virtual events to stay connected and grow personally through this time.

More recently, our nation has been torn apart with racial unrest. Please take a few minutes to read a short letter from PMI President & CEO, Sunil Prashara, addressing inequality:

As always, feel free to reach out to me if you have questions or suggestions about our Chapter.
