Message from PMINEO President, Andy Macy

Chapter News
President's Messages

Spring has arrived here in Northeast Ohio. Like many of you I’m enjoying the extended daylight hours and opportunity to be outside under more reasonable conditions. I wanted to take this opportunity to share with the chapter membership how honored I feel to be selected to serve as your next chapter President. I truly view this position as being a servant leader to support the chapter members and continue the “Back to Basics” Strategy decided upon during our Annual Planning Meeting in the Fall.

During that meeting we agreed upon 3 primary pillars to our 2026 Strategic Plan:

  • Value Proposition / Map to 60
  • Mentoring
  • Onboarding

The following are some brief updates on where these initiatives currently stand.

Value Proposition / Map to 60 – You may have noticed that our Programs team has been developing more “Experiential Events” such as the recent event at the Art Museum and the upcoming Professional Development Day that will be held at the Cleveland Museum of Natural History. We are developing a “Map to 60” meaning a map to the 60 PDUs needed to renew your PMP (and other) PMI Credentials using resources available from the Chapter and PMI for little to no cost beyond your PMI membership.

Mentoring – As you may have seen we have appointed Roger “Rog” Ouimet as our VP of Mentoring, directly reporting to the chapter Governance Board. Our Mentoring Program is at a point that we have developed a core group of Mentors and process for Mentorship Program. If you are a new project manager looking for guidance in the industry or an established PM looking to expand your skills set, please explore the opportunities at mentorship can provide. If you are an experienced PM looking to share your knowledge and experience to help your fellow PM grow and develop, please explore mentoring. It is a uniquely fulfilling process for both mentees and mentors. Please send an email to metoring@pmineo.org to start the process.

Onboarding – In this area we continue to offer monthly Get to Know the Chapter and Networking at Noon opportunities, but we are looking for additional help. We are looking to develop a more robust “Onboarding” process/package for new members to the chapter. This initiative will also need to include information sessions to members on the new PMI Membership Model that will be taking effect in 2027. For those unaware, starting in 2027 membership in the local chapter will be automatically included in membership with PMI International. The US is the last PMI region in the world to adopt this membership model. We view this as a positive for the chapter, as it has been shown to significantly increase memberships in the local chapters, on average 70-80% increases in members. We are looking for volunteers to help the chapter manage the influx of new members that is expected in the coming year. If you are interested in volunteering for the chapter, please reach out to volunteering@pmineo.org

I’m looking forward to continuing the efforts started by the Governance Board and Ramya in the Fall and helping guide the chapter forward with the opportunities that the new membership model will bring to the chapter.

B. Andrew Macy
President, PMI Northeast Ohio Chapter.
