Evolving the project management profession involves outreach to practitioners, organizations and academics. Project Management Institute (PMI) has recognized that to advance the profession, chapters need to partner with universities to educate the next generation of project professionals.

Today, PMINEO SLD (Student Leadership development) serves over 6 Universities and 10 schools to evolve the business mindset and promote leadership skills.

Here is a summary of what we do in the Student Leadership Program:

Networking Events

Students are encouraged to attend the monthly PMINEO chapter meetings to build professional relationships. In addition, the team holds events such as ‘Speed Mentoring’, ‘Resume workshops’, etc.

Course Accreditation

Our team assists universities on PMI accreditation activities for Project / Program Management courses. This helps universities to be aligned with the current Project Management Book of Knowledge (PMBOK) version and the recent focus shift to the PMI Talent Triangle (Leadership, Technical Project Management, Strategic & Business Mindset).

Scholarship

PMINEO sponsors a US $2,000 scholarship award for students residing in the Northeast Ohio area, who attends or plans to attend an accredited college or university program. SLD manages the selection process with PMI Educational Foundation (PMIEF).
