Topic: Cyber Threats and the Underground Economy Overview: Cyber threats continue to pose one of the most significant and challenging risks to our companies, communities, and personal lives. Supervisory Special Agent Ryan Macfarlane will discuss current cyber threats, the underlying criminal economy, and have an open discussion on what we should be doing to protect our nation, companies, and families from the persistent threat posed by cyber-attacks. Speaker bio: Ryan Macfarlane has spent over 15 years working cyber-crime cases at the FBI, and has responded to intrusions at Google, RSA, and numerous defense contractors, typically performing malware analysis, incident response, and malicious network traffic analysis. He was responsible for the arrest, extradition, and conviction of the largest sender of malicious email on the Internet in 2016, responsible for the compromise of half a million computer systems worldwide. Ryan has a Computer Science degree from Georgia Tech, and before joining the FBI in 2004, he worked for IBM, i2 Technologies, and co-founded an Internet Security firm based in Atlanta.
