Join your colleagues for a 1-day, in-person event, our annual Professional Development Day!
This year’s event will be held at the Manufacturing Advocacy and Growth Network (MAGNET) facility in Cleveland. PMINEO is partnering with MAGNET to explore how leadership plays a critical role in innovation in manufacturing in Northeast Ohio. MAGNET’s vision is for our region to be a global leader in smart manufacturing as laid out through the Blueprint for Manufacturing in Northeast Ohio.
This year's keynote speaker is Hod Lipson. We’re thrilled to welcome Hod, an award-winning author, pioneering researcher, four-time entrepreneur and noted professor. Hod Lipson will explore the cutting edge of advanced manufacturing and self-aware machines in a way that’s both practical and accessible. His talk is sure to spark fresh thinking across sectors—from traditional manufacturing to healthcare, construction, advanced materials, energy, transportation, agriculture and food and beverage.
It will be an informative presentation and at the end of the day, you will walk away with a tour of the MAGNET facility and 4.5 PDUs. In addition, there will be social networking time in the morning and at lunch so you can connect with other professionals.
When you arrive, you will find a classic continental breakfast in the lobby, accompanied by juice and coffee, courtesy of MAGNET.

Afternoon Speaker 2: Dr. Sebastian Brockhaus - The Slippery Slope of Technology: When New Tech is a Solution in Search of a Problem Companies have been chasing new technology as a silver bullet to supply chain problems since the beginning of the industrial revolution. Make no mistake: We owe many improvements in our lifestyle and increased productivity to technological innovation. Yet, many technologies that were hyped as the “next big thing” never lived up to the expectations - e.g., RFID, Blockchain, Virtual Reality, Additive Manufacturing, etc. Some technologies looked like duds for a while before gaining traction when they were finally applied to the right problem, e.g., QR codes, Mobile Payments, Cloud Computing, etc. Let’s explore what sets successful technological innovations apart from failures and how your company may be able to avoid betting on the wrong horse. We will specifically focus on the challenges of rolling out technology across the supply chain, the change management process, and how to foster successful collaboration. |
