AI-Enabled Agents in Project Management

Power Skills

Here is advice you will not hear from a vendor: Do not buy an AI agent. Build one.

This is not a product demonstration or sales pitch. Rick A. Morris will take attendees inside the AI agent ecosystem he built for real-world project management and show how these agents were developed and applied.

These agents are actively used on real engagements. One estimates work using three-point PERT, another scores portfolio risk, another measures sprint predictability, and another evaluates whether a project should move forward at all. Attendees will see what these agents analyze, what they produce, where human accountability remains essential, and lessons learned along the way.

The session will also explore an important reality of AI adoption: AI amplifies the processes already in place. Applying AI to an ineffective process can simply scale the problem faster. Successful adoption starts with sound processes, clear accountability, and organizational readiness.

Rather than relying on agents designed to solve someone else's problems, attendees will learn how to think about building agents around their own project management needs. Bring your toughest project challenge and explore whether an AI agent could help address it.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

By the end of this session, attendees will be able to:

  1. Distinguish between an AI assistant and an AI agent and understand how that distinction affects what can be safely delegated.
  2. Identify project management tasks that are ready for AI agents and those that still require human judgment and accountability.
  3. Assess process readiness before introducing AI so that technology strengthens effective practices rather than amplifying existing problems.
  4. Apply a practical approach to building an AI agent, including selecting a use case, defining its inputs and outputs, and establishing ownership.
  5. Communicate the business value of AI to executives in terms of measurable time and financial impact rather than technical features.
